Our distribution center in Rialto, California is the first Stanley Black & Decker facility to receive EPA's Energy Star status. The facility's low energy consumption coupled with its recent lighting upgrade project resulted in a 42 point increase over the 2010 energy consumption baseline to achieve a score of 95 on the building's first EPA Energy Star application. Buildings that achieve an Energy Star energy performance score of 75 or higher are in the top 25 percent for energy efficiency in the nation compared with similar buildings.
Contributing to the Grid
In June 2013 our hydroelectric power station, The Farmington River Power (FRP) Company, was selected for the 2013 Best of Windsor Award in the Electric Companies category by the Windsor Award Program. FRP is a small hydroelectric power station that contributes power to a common grid supporting homes, schools and businesses in Connecticut. The 30 million kWh produced at FRP annually is equivalent to 750,000 gallons of fuel oil.
